Implant dentures are a great option for patients who want to restore their mouth without the hassle and restrictions of removable dentures. At the Ambriz Center for Reconstructive & Cosmetic Dentistry in Dallas, TX, patients receive the innovative All-on-4 implant denture system from Nobel Biocare. Using strategically placed dental implants, the All-on-4 system uses fewer implants than traditional implant dentures for longer-lasting results that are more attractive and stable. Board-certified Dentist Dr. Albert Ambriz uses the All-on-4 dental implant system with high-quality custom dentures to give his patients their best results and appearance. Implant dentures avoid the food restrictions and extra cleaning process of traditional removable dentures for longer-lasting, effortless results that restore a patient's appearance as well as their ability to chew, speak, and make facial expressions. Best Candidates

Implant dentures are best for patients who need all or most of their natural teeth replaced. Patients may require implants if their tooth root is missing or not strong enough to support a false tooth. Other patients may prefer implants to avoid the discomfort, food restrictions, and other problems of removable dentures. The Nobel Biocare All-on-4 system is typically less expensive and faster than other implant dentures so patients can enjoy restored function, appearance, speech, and self-esteem without bone grafts.

What to Expect

With the patient under anesthesia, Dr. Ambriz will place the dental implants in one or both arches. The All-on-4 treatment uses two straight implants in the front and two angled implants in the back. Once the implants are in place, the patient will be given temporary dentures as the implants heal into the bone (osseointegration) for several months to create a stable foundation. Once the implants are ready, the patient's custom dentures will be fitted and attached to the dental implants. The dentures will remain in place unless they are removed by a dentist.

After Treatment

After the dental implants are placed, patients may experience some discomfort and swelling that can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications for several days after surgery. Patients may have special care instructions and food restrictions while their implants are healing.

Implant dentures should be cared for like natural teeth with a good home oral care routine and regular visits to the dentist's office for professional exams and cleanings. Compared to other implant denture systems, All-on-4 typically lasts much longer: up to 10 years in the mandible (lower jaw) and up to 5 years in the maxilla (upper arch). The dentures and/or implants may need to be replaced at some point, which will be determined by a dentist.

Anticipated Costs

Implant dentures are a restorative dental treatment that may be covered in part by dental insurance if it is deemed medically necessary. During the patient's consultation, Dr. Ambriz will go over treatment options based on the patient's needs and budget to create an estimate of costs. Our office will work with each patient's insurance company to determine their coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Our office accepts many payment forms and we can help patients find low-interest medical financing with CareCredit or Lending Club to help make treatment affordable.
