15 Services ( View All )

A brighter, whiter smile makes a great impression and can improve a person's self-confidence. Over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments may provide a slight improvement in the color of the teeth, however, professional teeth whitening services provide advanced treatments using medical-grade equipment and bleach for more effective results. As an experienced Cosmetic Dentist in Dallas, Dr. Albert Ambriz uses the Opalescence Boost PF 40% professional teeth whitening system to dramatically improve the appearance of your smile. The Ambriz Center for Reconstructive & Cosmetic Dentistry in Dallas is designed to provide a comfortable treatment experience with a chair-size whitening technique along with headphones and movies so patients can relax and feel comfortable.

Best Candidates

In-office teeth whitening can help patients who want to remove stains on the enamel that make the teeth look yellow and dull. Even patients who take great care of their teeth can get stains on their teeth from certain foods (tomatoes, curry, balsamic vinegar, berries), drinks (coffee, tea, wine, sodas, sports drinks), and tobacco products that build up over time and gradually dull the teeth. In-office teeth whitening does not help teeth that are internally dark or discolored. The dentist can discuss other options for restoring the appearance of these teeth, including crowns, veneers, or a root canal.

What to Expect

Opalescence Boost is performed in the dentist's office in two sets of 20 minute applications. Most patients will not need anesthesia for discomfort during the treatment, but some form of sedation may be requested if the patient has dental anxieties. The dentist will prepare the bleaching gel in the syringes and use a block to keep the lips, teeth, and tongue in the right position. After the teeth are cleaned and dried, a barrier is placed over the gums to protect the soft tissue from the bleaching materials. Once the patient is prepared, the Opalescence Boost gel is applied to the front of the visible teeth and sits for 20 minutes. The gel is suctioned off the teeth, then the gel is applied again. Once the gel treatment in complete, all gel will be removed from the teeth with suction and water before the gum barrier is removed so patients can see their results.

After Treatment

Patients may need to schedule multiple treatments over the course of several weeks depending on the current condition of their teeth and their cosmetic goals. To maintain their teeth whitening results, patients should avoid staining food and beverages (e.g. coffee, wine). Patients should also maintain a good home oral care routine (brushing and flossing) and schedule regular dental exams and cleanings. Some patients may notice some tooth sensitivity after their treatment, but Opalescence Boost is formulated with potassium nitrate and fluoride (PF) to protect against cavities and strengthen the enamel for healthier teeth. If patients have sensitive teeth after their treatment, they are encouraged to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, chew gum, and avoid home whitening products. For touch-up treatments, patients can ask Dr. Ambriz about home whitening treatments with custom teeth trays for better results.

Anticipated Costs

In-office Opalescence Boost teeth whitening is typically priced based on number of treatments performed. The number of treatments needed will vary based on the patient's original enamel color and their goals. Since teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure, it is generally not covered by dental insurance. Dr. Ambriz can go over cost estimates, payment options, and low-interest medical financing (CareCredit and Lending Club) during the patient's consultation.
